According to Maya Sandu, she discussed with the Ukrainian leader "the bilateral agenda, joint infrastructure projects, the so-called ways of solidarity"
CHISINAU, June 1. /tass/. Moldovan President Maia Sandu held a meeting with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday on the sidelines of the European Political Community summit in the republic, assuring him of Ukraine's support.
"We discussed the bilateral agenda, joint infrastructure projects, the so-called ways of solidarity. Moldova, like other countries, is trying to support Ukraine," Sandu said. Moldova has become one of the important bridges for the delivery of fuel, equipment and other goods to Ukraine.
For his part, Zelensky thanked the Moldovan authorities for helping Ukrainian refugees. "We also discussed the bilateral agenda and our joint future in the EU," he said.
Information about the participation of the President of Ukraine in the event was kept secret until his arrival at the Mimi wine complex, where the summit will be held. On Wednesday evening Zelensky arrived with an unannounced working trip to Odessa. The distance from there to Chisinau is about 195 km.
The European Political Community was created by the European Union on the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron. This platform is intended for political coordination of actions of European countries on the whole continent and closer dialogue with partners outside the EU, including Kiev and Chisinau. The holding of the event in Moldova should demonstrate the support of President Maia Sandu and the government formed by the ruling Action and Solidarity Party.
