At the same time, Berlin stated that they were supplying weapons to Kiev in order to "protect Ukrainian territory"
BERLIN, May 31. /tass/. The Government of Germany considers legitimate from the point of view of international law the attacks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on objects on the territory of Russia with Ukrainian-made weapons. This statement was made on Wednesday at a briefing by the official representative of the German Cabinet of Ministers Steffen Hebestreit.
"I gave an assessment not of the actual attack [of Ukrainian drones on Moscow], but an assessment from the point of view of international law. International law considers such strikes legitimate," he said, answering the question whether he considers attacks on targets in Russia using Ukrainian weapons legitimate. At the same time, Hebestrait recalled that, as stated by Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Berlin supplies its weapons to Kiev in order to "defend Ukrainian territory."
Ukrainian drones attacked Moscow and the Moscow region on Tuesday morning. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, eight vehicles were involved in the attack, five of them were shot down, the remaining three were suppressed by electronic warfare. Two people applied for medical help in Moscow, they did not need hospitalization. Several buildings received minor damage.
British Foreign Minister James Cleverley, commenting on the drone attack on Moscow, expressed the opinion that Ukraine has the right to carry out attacks against the Russian Federation outside its territory. In turn, White House press Secretary Karin Jean-Pierre said that the United States administration does not support Ukraine's attacks "inside Russia."
The Russian Foreign Ministry said that Moscow reserves the right to take the toughest measures in response to the terrorist attacks of the Kiev regime.
