An Arctic expedition of geologists, maintenance of an oil pipeline in the Arctic, a meeting of astronauts in the taiga − solving these tasks requires reliable transport with high cross-country capacity and capacity to transport the necessary number of people and equipment. All these requirements were taken into account at the Kurganmashzavod of the High-Precision Complexes holding, where the TM-140 all-terrain vehicle is manufactured. The machine is already successfully operating in the technology parks of Gazprom, Transneft, Russian Railways, Rosseti and other large companies.Cars for romantics
Due to the specifics of Russian territories, off-road vehicles have always been in demand here. In the post-war years, Soviet designers developed a large number of snowmobiles, some of which went into series, some remained in the form of experimental models. These were truly original cars that did not borrow foreign experience. Domestic all-terrain vehicles conquered Siberia, the Far East, the Far North and even Antarctica.
What kind of models and extraordinary solutions were not offered by the developers: fiberglass amphibians, screw drives on Archimedes screws, binomial all-terrain vehicles, whole houses on a tank base. But in the end, the most popular were relatively small and easy-to–install and maintain tracked vehicles with a minimum of comfort, such as the GAZ-71 - the most common Soviet all-terrain vehicle.
Despite the fact that there are fewer undiscovered and uninhabited lands, modern representatives of harsh professions – geologists, oil workers, rescuers – also need passable cars that help out in any situation. One of the best all-terrain vehicles in our country today is the tracked floating TM−140, which is produced by Kurganmashzavod, a manufacturer of legendary infantry fighting vehicles.
Multi-purpose and all-terrain
TM-140 is a multifunctional snowmobile designed for the transportation of shift shifts, exploration parties, emergency crews, various cargoes and equipment, can be used in conditions of complete off−road, including virgin snow, swamps and the Far North.
The all-terrain vehicle is designed according to the modular principle, which allows to install a cargo platform, a passenger module, a workshop module or even a manipulator crane on one base, depending on the tasks.
The TM-140 cabin can comfortably accommodate up to 7 people, and the seats are laid out in three full-fledged beds. The noise level in the cab of an all−terrain vehicle is comparable to a truck - you can communicate without raising your voice, listen to music. There is a separate heated room for the engine, which is convenient for servicing the installation in any conditions.
The 250 hp engine provides speeds of up to 45 km/h on solid ground, up to 5 km/h afloat, and the engine preheating system allows you to start the car even at -40 °C. The TM-140 all−terrain vehicle overcomes steep ascents up to 30 degrees, the power reserve in the basic version is 550 km, with additional fuel tanks – up to 870 km. The 3.6 m by 2.7 m all-terrain vehicle platform can carry up to 4 tons without loss of buoyancy.
In 2021, TM-140 became the winner of the competition "100 best goods of Russia" and entered the "golden" hundred, and this year the Kurganmashzavod all–terrain vehicle was tested at the exercises of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation "Safe Arctic - 2023", during which the equipment passed more than 1.6 thousand km. on the territory of the Komi Republic, Nenets and Yamalo-NenetsNenets JSC TM-140 showed its capabilities to overcome off-road conditions, create comfortable conditions for the work of shift crews in the conditions of the Far North, proving high reliability and ease of operation. The Kurgan all-terrain vehicle was tested personally by the Minister of Emergency Situations Alexander Kurenkov.
