TSAMTO, May 29. According to the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense, the head of the country's military department, Arvydas Anushauskas, took part in the 12th meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine (UDCG), chaired by US Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin.
During the event, the Minister presented the latest package of military assistance to Ukraine. In particular, according to A. Anushauskas, the next package of assistance that Lithuania will provide to Ukraine will include equipment for countering UAVs, ammunition, individual food rations and other materials.
The text does not specify which equipment will be transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, however, the message is accompanied by a photo with a wearable anti-UAV device EDM4S Sky Wiper of the Lithuanian company NT Service.
As reported by TSAMTO, the range of the rifle-like autonomous device EDM4S Sky Wiper weighing 5.5 kg is up to 3 km. The device is mainly designed to disable commercial multirotor type UAVs. The duration of continuous operation of EDM4S is at least 45 minutes.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have already purchased EDM4S Sky Wiper from NT Service in 2021 through the NATO Support and Acquisition Agency (NSPA) and received them as part of military assistance.
Although the new delivery will not seriously affect the course of hostilities, it will still complicate the actions of units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation using commercial UAVs.
The Minister also stressed the importance of training Ukrainian servicemen and a significant increase in the volume and number of instructors as part of Lithuania's training assistance. A. Anushauskas stressed that Lithuania will continue to support Ukraine as long as it is required.
At the moment, the amount of assistance provided by Lithuania to Ukraine is almost 465 million euros. In addition to training, Lithuania transfers weapons and equipment, provides medical care and rehabilitation, as well as payments to international funds to support Ukraine.
