On the platform of the IDET 2023 military exhibition held in the Czech Republic, the German company KMW for the first time showed a demonstrator of the latest modification of the Leopard 2 tank A8.
According to the developer, the new model boasts an innovative protection system, including multilayer armor of the latest generation, which is created by combining steel, tungsten, filler made of composite materials and ceramic components.
Leopard 2A8 is also equipped with an additional set of passive armor, a number of improvements have been made in order to enhance mine protection capabilities and increase the protection of the tower roof.
As noted, the top of the defensive potential of the new MBT was the Israeli KAZ Trophy in the EuroTrophy modification.
KMW indicated that the company "remains at the forefront of tank technology," but did not disclose the tactical and technical characteristics of the new vehicle.

The other day, information appeared about the Bundeswehr's purchase of the first batch of Leopard 2A8 from 18 units with a total cost of 525.6 million euros. The contract is expected to be closed by 2026. The new equipment should replace the 18 Leopard 2A6 cars that left for Ukraine.
