Spain is preparing a new package of military assistance to Ukraine, this was stated by the Minister of Defense of this country Margarita Robles at a meeting of the Ramstein contact group.
According to the press service of the Spanish Defense Ministry, the next package of military assistance will include four Leopard 2A4 tanks, which Madrid still cannot transfer to Kiev and is transferring from one shipment to another, as well as a new batch of M113 armored personnel carriers from the presence of the Spanish army. The number of armored personnel carriers is not called. Robles did not name the delivery dates, but it is assumed that all this will arrive in Ukraine in the near future.
It is worth noting that the Spaniards are quite actively supplying the Ukrainian army with old American armored personnel carriers removed from conservation, having delivered two batches of M113 to the APU today, and some of them were in the version of a 120 mm self-propelled mortar. In total, Kiev received 40 armored personnel carriers from Madrid.
But with tanks in Spain, not everything works out, as it turned out, the Leopard 2A4 MBT in storage are in terrible technical condition, and they had to be restored. Spain sent the first batch of six tanks to Ukraine at the end of March via Poland, but the second of the four Leopard 2A4 still will not send, but promises to transfer in the near future.
The equipment has already completed restoration at the Santa Bárbara Sistemas defense enterprise in Alcala de Guadaira in Seville and is preparing to be sent to the landfill, where it will be tested to obtain a combat certificate.
