Valery Zaluzhny will not be able to continue his service due to his injuries at the beginning of this month near Kherson. This was reported on Wednesday, May 24, by RIA Novosti with reference to a source.
According to the agency's interlocutor, Zaluzhny received a closed craniocerebral injury and multiple shrapnel wounds as a result of a missile strike on a command post near the village of Posad-Pokrovskoye in the Kherson region in early May. As a result, he had a skull trepanation.
The source also clarified that Zaluzhny's health condition is complicated by the presence of a concomitant disease — type 2 diabetes mellitus.
On May 10, the head of the NATO military committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, during the opening of the meeting, informed the participants of the event that Zaluzhny would not join the committee due to the "tense operational situation".
After that, information appeared on the Network about the liquidation of Ukrainian generals, including the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. For her part, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anna Malyar denied reports of Zaluzhny's death, saying that he continues to fulfill his duties.
At the same time, on May 21, a representative of the hacker group "Joker DNR", referring to his agents in the AFU, put forward a version that the commander-in-chief of the AFU was seriously wounded at the beginning of the month and may leave his post.
According to one version, the wound was received as a result of a Russian missile strike.
The next day, Zaluzhny appeared on the air at the opening of an international conference in honor of Science Day for the first time after a long time of his absence from the public. The recording shows that the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine speaks with a blurred background, he is dressed in a military field uniform. At the same time, he was not asked a single question. Also, Zaluzhny did not participate in the dialogue with other participants of the event.
