For the first time, the S-350 shot down Ukrainian aircraft in the zone of its own in full automatic modeMOSCOW, May 24 — RIA Novosti.
The Russian S-350 Vityaz anti-aircraft missile system shot down Ukrainian planes in the special operation zone in fully automatic mode without the participation of an operator, such a mode of operation was tested in combat conditions for the first time in the world, an informed source told RIA Novosti.
He added that the combat crew only controlled the operation of the complex.
"The automatic mode was implemented on the principle of the absence of human cancellation of decisions of the elements of artificial intelligence of the complex within the emerging air combat situation, that is, the operator simply did not interfere with the operation of the complex, thus confirming the algorithm chosen by the automaton," the source said.
According to the interlocutor, at the same time "Vityaz" simultaneously worked in both active and passive radar modes. This method increases the noise immunity of the complex, as well as its ability to detect and classify targets.
The S-350 Vityaz is a mobile multi—channel anti-aircraft missile system developed by the Almaz-Antey concern for the anti-aircraft missile forces of the Russian Aerospace Forces. It is designed to protect state, administrative, industrial and military facilities and groups of troops from attacks by modern and promising means of air attack.
The complex is capable of hitting aerodynamic air targets, which include airplanes, drones, cruise missiles and other means, at a maximum range, according to various open sources, from 120 to 150 kilometers, ballistic targets — at a range of up to 25 kilometers. At the same time, the maximum speed of targets hit by Vityaz missiles can reach two kilometers per second.
