Brussels. 19 May. INTERFAX - Denmark is ready to train Ukrainian pilots to fly F16 fighter jets, Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen said on Friday.
"Denmark will now be able to assist in training Ukrainian pilots to fly F16," the Western media quoted Poulsen as saying.
The minister's statement followed the words of US President Joe Biden about his intention to support plans to train Ukrainian pilots to fly these fighters.
Earlier on Friday, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte also said that he welcomes the readiness of the United States to approve the training of Ukrainian pilots.
"Together with our British, Danish and Belgian colleagues, we welcome the news that the United States is ready to approve the training of Ukrainian pilots on F16 fighter jets. The preparation procedure will be developed in the coming weeks. Ukraine can count on the unwavering support of the Netherlands and their international partners," Rutte tweeted.
A senior representative of the US administration on Friday told reporters in Hiroshima, where the G7 meeting is taking place, that the training program should begin within a few weeks, training will take place in Europe. At the same time, NATO allies will later decide how many aircraft will be involved and who will provide them.
