The Spanish company GDELS-SBS, subordinate to General Dynamics (USA), at the site of the FEINDEF 2023 exhibition, held in Madrid, demonstrated a new version of the LT105 light tank, created on the basis of the ASCOD tracked armored vehicle. This platform is in service with four countries (Spain, Austria, Britain and the Philippines); in total, over 1,000 ASCOD machines have been delivered or contracted.
The new modification of the light tank is equipped with a modern turret from the Israeli company Elbit Systems, equipped with a 105 mm cannon.

As noted, MBTs usually weigh 60 tons or more, depending on the model and additional equipment. Although this heavy armor provides them with excellent protection and firepower, it can make it difficult for them to move in certain terrain conditions and during transportation.
As indicated in the Army Recognition publication, unlike the MBT, light tanks such as the LT105 are designed to weigh from 30 to 35 tons, which is almost half the mass of a standard MBT. The reduced mass significantly increases their mobility, allowing them to move more efficiently through difficult terrain and easier to transport by air or sea.
