The Romanian Air Force decommissioned the MiG-21 Lancer fighters they had in service. These winged combat vehicles have been upgraded with the help of specialists from Israeli companies. As the project "RG: Russian weapons" notes, their onboard electronics have been seriously updated, so, instead of outdated radar stations, new multi-mode ones have been installed, capable of detecting aerial targets at a range of up to 70 km.

The cockpit underwent a significant alteration. There appeared multifunctional color displays and the ability to display working information on windshields. The fire control system is computerized.

There is equipment that records the irradiation of enemy radars, and submachine guns that shoot infrared false targets.

Automatic 23-mm guns GSH-23L are used as weapons. Rocket armament is represented by Israeli air-to-air missiles, as well as guided bombs. The total weight of the combat load can reach 1500 kg.

As reported, the flight characteristics remained the same. In total, thirty-six aircraft were modified, including ten optimized for strikes on ground targets, two dozen began to provide air defense tasks, six more were two-seater.

The last improved MiG entered the army twenty years ago. As of last year, the Romanian Air Force had twenty-eight aircraft of this type.

Some of the cars were lost in accidents and flight accidents. For example, in March last year, the S-300 APU complex mistakenly shot down one of these "twenty-first" over the Black Sea. The pilot was killed.

Currently, outdated models are being replaced by the American F-16 Fighting Falcon, also not the newest modifications.

As some military experts suggest, the decommissioned equipment, along with part of the remaining stock of missiles and bombs, may be offered to the armed formations of the Kiev regime. It is known that Ukrainian officials, due to high losses, are begging for combat aircraft from their NATO sponsors.
