Specialists of the units of the communication troops around the clock and in any weather ensure the exchange of information between control points, military units and divisions. The Russian Defense Ministry on Saturday, May 13, published footage of the combat work of the signalmen of the Western Military District (ZVO).
During the special operation, they provide the command of groups, military units and subdivisions with all types of modern communication services: secure satellite, radio relay, mobile and radio communications, thereby maintaining the continuity and efficiency of command of troops at a high level.
The task of military signalmen is to organize communication channels to control a moving ground group of troops.
The military personnel of the communication forces perform their tasks, despite artillery and mortar attacks, gain the upper hand in electronic warfare (EW). Uninterrupted communication is achieved thanks to the personal courage, dedication and professionalism of each serviceman.
Calculations of stations occupy areas that have been checked in advance by intelligence units and engineering troops. Arriving at a new location, the crews promptly set up the necessary equipment to provide various communication channels.
In addition, to ensure the safety of equipment placement, military personnel organize security posts and foot patrols.
The work of the units of the signal troops is highly appreciated by the command, most of the military signalmen have been awarded state and departmental awards.
Communication units are equipped with various means, thanks to which radio channels, wired communication lines, as well as closed video conferences are organized in any area when performing tasks.
One of the main means of communication are satellite portable satchel stations, which are compact, light in weight, easy to operate, easy to set up.
"During the course of the SVO, we carry out the tasks of organizing and providing communications to the commander and headquarters of the division, as well as subordinate units. Fixed assets are satellite communications. A wearable satchel station. Convenient, practical in operation. Easy to set up. The personnel easily assimilates and learns to put this station into practice. Designed for the tactical level. It has proven itself on the positive side. The connection is stable, legible," the chief of staff of the communications battalion with the call sign Volgograd told reporters.
Unmanned aerial vehicles are also used to ensure stable and uninterrupted communication. To increase the range of the radio signal and create a military network of cellular subscribers, a radio station is connected to the quadcopter in repeater mode. This method of work has proven itself positively in the course of conducting its own.
"It is intended for flights. This is a common purpose. And private — to create a military network. <...> A wearable radio station is taken, which rises together with the drone. And thereby the communication range increases. This is a new development," said the commander of the communications platoon with the call sign Almaz.
The operator checks the technical readiness for the flight. A regular radio station is installed on the quadcopter. It will become a repeater through which combat units will communicate.
Earlier, on May 12, it became known that during aerial reconnaissance, the calculations of unmanned aerial vehicle complexes revealed the camouflaged positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and transmitted information to the artillery command post, after which the calculations of the MLRS "Grad" struck the Ukrainian positions.
The special operation to protect Donbass, which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
