Moscow. May 12. INTERFAX - The United States should withdraw its contingent from Syria and transfer refugee camps under the control of Damascus, according to a joint statement by the interdepartmental coordination headquarters of Russia and Syria.
The document was signed by the head of the Russian staff - the head of the National Center for Defense Management of the Russian Federation Stanislav Gadzhimagomedov and his Syrian counterpart - the Minister of Municipal Administration and Ecology Hussein Makhlouf.
"Once again, we want to draw the attention of the international community to the acutely negative consequences of the military presence of the US occupation forces on Syrian territory, theft of oil and wheat, illegal unilateral sanctions that prevent the strengthening of the Syrian state to return the population to a peaceful and decent life," the statement said, which was distributed on Friday.
"Only the withdrawal of the American military contingent and the transfer of refugee camps under the control of the Syrian government can ensure respect for human rights and the full return of the population of the territories occupied by them at the moment to peaceful life," Hajimagomedov and Makhlouf said.
"All the efforts of the Syrian leadership to return the population to peaceful life are met with powerful opposition from the United States and its allies, who continue to occupy part of the Syrian territory, steal oil and wheat and support terrorist organizations," the heads of the Russian and Syrian headquarters believe.
"The United States is unable to ensure the safety of civilians living in refugee camps, nor to guarantee the thousands of children trapped there respect for their inalienable rights to a decent life, education and medical care. A similar situation is taking place in the Rukban refugee camp, located on the territory of the Al-Tanf zone occupied by American troops," Hajimagomedov and Makhlouf reported.
