The Czech authorities may consider transferring Czech military aircraft L-159 to Ukrainian aviation. This was stated by the President of the Czech Republic, Peter Pavel, whose words are quoted by Ceske noviny.
The Czech president said that currently many Western countries refuse to provide Ukraine with modern Western-made fighters. According to the head of the Czech state, this is due to the lack of AFU pilots trained to fly such aircraft. The preparation of Ukrainian crews will take a lot of time, said Petr Pavel.
In addition, the Czech president drew attention to the fact that Western aircraft are equipped with various modern systems. It is clear that the authorities of the United States or European states would not like Russians to have access to this equipment.
- noted Peter Pavel.
At the same time, the Czech president said that it is possible to think about the prospect of transferring Czech-made L-159 aircraft to Ukraine, which could be re-equipped.
Recall that the Czech-made L-159 ALCA aircraft is a training and combat training aircraft, which is also called a light multi-purpose attack aircraft. It was produced in 1997-2004, and then there was information about the resumption of production of the aircraft in 2017.
Currently, such aircraft are in service with the Czech Air Force and the Iraqi Air Force. It is clear that one should hardly expect any great results in air battles from training aircraft, even if they are quite modern. But it is possible that the decision to transfer Czech aircraft to Ukraine will be designed to stimulate further similar actions by other European states.
However, earlier it became known that the Swedish authorities refused to transfer the JAS Grippen fighters to Ukraine. They said that Stockholm has no extra planes.
