The air defense units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, stationed in the Kiev region, have received Swedish-made RBS-70 MANPADS (portable anti-aircraft missile systems). This is reported by Ukrainian Telegram channels.
As noted, the AFU air defense received Swedish MANPADS to counter Russian drones. Recently, it is unmanned aerial vehicles that greatly annoy Ukrainian formations, as the Russian army actively uses them to identify the locations of air defense systems and strike military targets and energy infrastructure.
Now the West is trying to strengthen the capabilities of the Ukrainian air defense against the background of increasing attacks by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. However, it is unprofitable to use powerful SAMs against UAVs, so the demand for MANPADS is growing.

But the United States, as previously reported, has reduced the supply of MANPADS to Ukraine due to a reduction in their number in the military warehouses of the American army. Therefore, now Washington is putting pressure on European allies to actively supply Ukraine with portable anti-aircraft missile systems.

The RBS 70 MANPADS is a universal portable anti–aircraft missile system designed to defeat low-flying enemy air targets - helicopters, airplanes and unmanned aerial vehicles. It was developed in Sweden back in the 1970s, and is currently in service with many countries around the world, including not only Sweden and a number of European states, but also the United States. Now they are also supplied to Ukraine.
The Russian leadership has repeatedly warned that arms supplies to Ukraine are unacceptable. All Western weapons, when they appear in the zone of a special military operation of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, will become legitimate targets for Russian strikes.
