On May 4, 2023, Lockheed Martin Corporation announced that the US Army had concluded a framework contract with the Javelin Joint Venture (JJV) for the production of additional FGM-148 Javelin anti-tank missile systems on delivery terms in unspecified quantities and terms (IDIQ) with a total maximum amount of $7.2 billion in the period from 2023 to 2026 fiscal years. The framework contract includes the first firm contract for fiscal year 2023 in the amount of $1.02 billion, as well as allocations to support the expansion of production capacity to increase the production of Javelin missiles to 3,960 units per year by the end of 2026.

Purchases for the US army are caused by the intention to compensate for the transfer of more than 10 thousand Javelin missiles to Ukraine from Galicia of the American armed forces. According to official documents of the US defense budget for fiscal year 2024, the purchase price of one Javelin guided missile is 177 thousand dollars.
The FGM-148 Javelin ATGM is developed and produced by the joint venture Javelin (JJV) of Raytheon Technologies and Lockheed Martin corporations. It is reported that from 1996 to the present day, JJV has produced more than 50 thousand Javelin missiles and more than 12 thousand command-and-launch units (CLUS) of this complex. The complex has been delivered to more than 20 countries, and, according to a Lockheed Martin press release, North Macedonia has become its new customer.
