Turkish attack drones have entered service with another European country, this time Kosovo has become the operator of the Bayraktar TB2, despite all the protests of Serbia. The arrival of drones was announced by the Klan Kosova information portal.
The so-called Security Forces of unrecognized Kosovo have been armed with five Bayraktar TB2 attack drones, as well as a control station. In addition, the Turks supplied Pristina with the necessary auxiliary equipment. The details of the delivery are not disclosed, it is known that the delivery was carried out at the end of April this year.
The fact that Pristina intends to purchase Turkish attack drones was reported at the end of last year, at the same time information appeared about the signing of a contract between the Ministry of Defense of the unrecognized republic and the Turkish company Baykar Makina. However, the details of the agreement were not disclosed. As stated on this occasion by the Minister of Defense of Kosovo Armend Mehaj, who signed the contract, Pristina expressed interest in Turkish drones at the beginning of 2022. It was assumed that Kosovo would purchase at least 12 Turkish drones, whose task would be to fight the Russian Pantsir-S MANPADS, which are in service with the Serbian army.
Last December, the Serbian president condemned Ankara's intention to deliver Bayraktar drones to unrecognized Kosovo. According to him, the appearance of drones in service with the Kosovo Security Forces will lead to an increase in Serbia's air defense.
