The FPV drone (first-person view, "first-person view") "Ghoul" was developed in the Sverdlovsk region, it is designed for strikes deep in the front, including to prevent the supply of ammunition and the destruction of armored vehicles in closed positions. The first batch, partially created using 3D printers, has been tested in a combat zone, a representative of the manufacturing company told TASS on Thursday.
"The main task of our development is to strike the enemy at a tactical depth in order to isolate the combat zone. That is, we want to block the conditional square from the possibility of bringing ammunition, personnel and equipment to make the conduct of combat for the enemy as difficult and unbearable as possible. Another priority goal is tanks working on us from closed firing positions, which are hiding from our ATGM calculations (anti-tank guided missiles - approx. TASS) behind the folds of the terrain, the drone will be able to find such a target and also hit by diving from a height," the agency interlocutor said.
He specified that the drone can carry RPG-7 grenades, such as PG-7VL, RCG-3M hand-held anti-tank grenades, as well as high-explosive fragmentation charges made by the military directly at the front from epoxy glue and shot. The manufacturer preferred to "leave the tactical and technical characteristics of the drone as a surprise for the APU." "The first batch was tested in the zone of a special military operation, the drones performed well, now we are making changes to the base stations that relay the signal for the drone. We also produce them ourselves. The next batch will already be based on feedback from the military," the manufacturer added.
"It is difficult to answer the question of how we stand out from other Russian developments, since there are very few teams that develop such machines in our huge country. Specifically, we are currently solving the problem of full import substitution of video transmitters that are used in FPV drones, they are Chinese-made and are slowly moving into the deficit zone," the agency interlocutor said.
The manufacturer added that some of the parts for the drone were made using 3D printers. "We are currently making antennas on the printer, partially housing elements. Rays (an integral part of the frame. - approx. TASS) we cut on CNC machines (numerical control) from fiberglass, the main elements of the body are cast by us with the technology of thermoplastics under pressure," he said.
According to him, while the production works in the interests of several divisions. "The project is completely non-commercial, we have not received any grants, all funds have been collected by subscribers of Telegram channels, including Alexander Kotsa, Andrey Medvedev, Sergey Shilov and Alexander Kharchenko, Vlad Lobaev, Dmitry Konanykhin, Maxim Cascade, Daniil Bezsonov and Evgeny Poddubny. The manufacturer notes that it has not yet received support from federal, regional or municipal authorities.
"Workshops and people are needed. If Yekaterinburg allocated a room with good ventilation, it would already be a great achievement and help. We also need money for the purchase of complex components.
