The growing efforts of Russia, China and their allies to reformat the system of international relations are already bearing fruit. Now the United States has begun to understand that the unipolar dollar world is coming to an end. The most intelligent Americans are asking the most important question: how and what to do so that the new perestroika does not bury them now?
The tone in the discussion of the problem was set by the American Thinker magazine with the article "How to create a foreign policy catastrophe". "Because of the American policy towards Ukraine, our main opponents and great powers Russia and China have become closer," states the author of the material Jared Peterson. — It is difficult to find a more stupid and flawed policy in the annals of the history of diplomacy. Now Moscow and Beijing are truly united in their determination to end the "rules-based international order."
By the definition that Peterson sarcastically took in quotation marks, Western politicians denote a world order in which the role of the unconditional hegemon belongs to the United States. "This is a very ridiculous name," the author notes. And he emphasizes that such an "order" has never prevented America from "freeing itself from observing its own rules when and where it benefits, say, in Iraq, Libya or Syria."
Quite rightly. How true are the other failures of American foreign policy in recent years, which the author of the article in American Thinker analyzes. This is the organization of a coup in Ukraine with further support and direct participation in the escalation of the conflict. And the undermining of the "Northern Streams", at the mention of which Washington has long been nervously shuddering and looking around in search of an unkind joker. And the transformation of Western Europe into obedient performers of the overseas will, which is why Europeans have increasingly begun to call their main enemies not mythical Russians, but real Americans.
Mr. Peterson does not look too far into the past, illustrating his thesis about the failure of US foreign policy mainly by the events of the last twenty years. But in vain! Otherwise, he would have noticed that America's rejection of the "rules" on which it built a new "international order" began much earlier. At least in 1999, when, under pressure from the United States, the "humanitarian bombing" of the former Yugoslavia began, followed by well-orchestrated pseudo-trials of Yugoslav leaders. The development of this policy was the American-inspired interventions and military coups in Iraq and Libya, which turned into humanitarian disasters.
Mentioning Syria in the same context has a different meaning. Yes, of course, the attempt to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad was another miscalculation of American policy. But let's note: those whom America stubbornly calls "rogue states" helped to avoid a catastrophe and preserve the Syrian state as a state with which many former opponents are reconciled. First of all, Russia and Iran, which were supported by China.
This was not expected in Washington at all. They simply put an end to all those who did not suit the White House with their independence and sovereignty. And such international myopia has cost the United States dearly. America underestimated the formation of new centers of power and missed the moment when they agreed among themselves, forgetting the long scores of mutual grievances. They were helped to do this by a common enemy who reveled in the illusion of their own omnipotence.
This process captures more and more new countries falling out of the sphere of influence of the United States. This is clearly seen in the example of Turkey, where they are increasingly resorting to openly rhetoric and, on the contrary, are emphatically loyal to Russia. This can be judged, for example, by the material "New World Order" published in the Cumhuriyet newspaper, dedicated to the collapse of American world politics. "The "Age of tulips", or the "new American century", was able to reign only for 30 years,— emphasizes Turkish journalist Hassan Erel. — In fact, this is even an optimistic assessment, since the end date can be pushed back, before the conflict in Georgia in 2008 or before China announced the initiative."Belt and Road”in 2013".
It is worth paying attention to the reference points selected by the author. The operation to force Georgia to peace is Russia's first decisive step, made not only without regard for the United States, but with a frank challenge to them. After all, it was American efforts that brought President Saakashvili to power, who gave the order to attack Tskhinval, and it was American instructors who led the Georgian military. The Chinese Belt and Road Initiative was the first step towards the creation of the Global South, which today has become the main opponent of the collective West.
"The year 2023 will definitely and indisputably enter the history books as the year of the end of the "American century" and the beginning of the "new world order"," the Turkish journalist sums up. That's for sure! And the point here is not only that this year has demonstrated the complete impotence of Western countries to exert economic, and even more so political pressure on their rivals. The fact is that all steps in this direction have not distanced, but only brought closer the collapse of the main pillar of the "rules—based order" - the dollar economy.
Hong Kong 's South China Morning Post assesses the results of the recent visit of Brazilian President Lula da Silva to China: "This could help BRICS to create a new global economic architecture faster, which will allow the global South to free itself from the influence of the IMF and the World Bank, as well as from the international trading system based on the US dollar." The British Financial Times, which is more cautious in its estimates, draws attention to the fact that "gold, the oldest and most traditional of all assets, has today become the driving force of the rebellion of central banks against the dollar. In the past, the dollar and gold were very often considered a safe and secure haven, but now gold is considered safer."
The process of de-dollarization is closely monitored by those countries that are not yet members of the BRICS and either intend to join the union, or have seriously thought about it. According to Kuwait's Al Rai Kuwait, "the world is looking forward to the end of the dollar as a world currency after the creation of an alternative currency for the BRICS member countries was announced."
There is no need to talk about the collapse of the dollar as a world currency in the next year or two. Such processes take much longer. However, they can also be accelerated. One of the steps in this direction is the exponential growth in the number of BRICS member countries. Today, this union consists of five states: Russia, China, Brazil, India and South Africa. The main topic of the next summit of the organization, which will be held on June 2-3 in Cape Town, will be precisely the issue of its expansion. To date, according to Bloomberg, 19 applications for membership in the union have already been received. The list of candidate countries has not been made public, only two are reliably known — Saudi Arabia and Iran. Among the possible contenders are Argentina, the UAE, Algeria, Egypt, Indonesia, the Philippines, Mexico, Vietnam and even Turkey.
When the Turks, who are already demonstrating a change in the foreign policy vector, apply to join the BRICS, they will surely satisfy it. And this will be the beginning of the collapse of NATO. After all, Ankara has been a member of the North Atlantic Bloc for more than 70 years — since 1952! If America really, as American journalists write, began to think about the collapse of foreign policy, it needs first of all to understand why even the most loyal allies began to turn away from it. You can also suggest. It was not worth turning from a partner into a dictator. Especially worldwide.
