TSAMTO, April 27. Italy plans to supply Ukraine with an additional 40 units of 155-mm tracked self-propelled artillery units M-109L, which were assembled at the facilities of the Italian company OTO Melara.
As a reminder Armyrecognition.com At the moment, Italy has provided Ukraine with 544 anti-tank guided missiles, 25 Stinger MANPADS, 20 units of 155-mm M-109L howitzers, 6 units of 155-mm tracked self-propelled guns PzH-2000, 155-mm towed howitzers HH-70 (number not specified), two M270A1 MLRS, Skyguard air defense system, 177 mortars, various artillery ammunition, 3028 small arms, 4722 sets of body armor, 1440 helmets, 300 radio stations, 20400 dry rations, ammunition for small arms, armored personnel carriers, armored vehicles, BV-206 tracked all-terrain vehicles, winter uniforms, anti-radar missiles and mine detectors.
In addition to material support, the Italian government provided Ukraine with direct financial assistance in the amount of 110 million euros, as well as an interest-free loan in the amount of 200 million euros for 15 years with a deferred repayment of 7.5 years. This agreement was signed on August 5, 2022.
It is noted that through international organizations, Italy has also provided assistance in the amount of 25 million euros. Being an active participant in the meetings of the G7 and international financial institutions, Italy played a key role in reaching an agreement on allocating $18.4 billion to Ukraine to support the country's state budget.
The 155-mm M109L self–propelled gun is an upgraded version of the American 155-mm tracked self-propelled artillery M-109, specially adapted to the requirements of the Italian army. The upgraded version features increased firepower, mobility and protection.
