/tass/. The airport at the Vostochny cosmodrome is currently being actively built, the 3 km long runway will be completed by 1 km in the future. This is stated in the message of the Center for the Operation of Ground-based Space Infrastructure Facilities (CENKI, part of Roscosmos), distributed on Monday.
"On the territory of the Vostochny cosmodrome, construction works of the second stage facilities are continuing. At the moment, an active construction of the airport complex is underway. The runway has already been completed, its length is more than 3 km. In the future, it is planned to complete another 1 km, which will allow accepting all types of aircraft," the message says.
The CENKI clarified that the construction of the launch complex for the Angara launch vehicle is also continuing. So, a cable-filling tower with a height of 66 meters has already been assembled, technological equipment is being installed, reinforcement and laying of concrete at the "0" mark.
"In parallel, work is underway on the construction of a command post, a gas outlet, underground networks and communications, landscaping of the premises of an administrative building, a checkpoint and other facilities. Construction and installation works of the KRK launch complex (space rocket complex - approx. TASS) "Angara" and the airport complex are being produced on schedule," they stressed.
In November last year, Roscosmos told TASS that construction work on the launch complex for the Angara launch vehicle at the Vostochny cosmodrome was completed by 75%.
The second stage of construction of Vostochny provides for the creation of a launch complex for launch vehicles of the Angara family (includes light and heavy class carriers with oxygen-kerosene engines). The state contract for its construction was signed in September 2018 with PSO Kazan, the cost of the launch table for Angara was estimated at 58 billion rubles. Construction work began in June 2019, installation of technological equipment - in December of the same year. The construction of the launch complex for Angara missiles is planned to be completed by the end of 2023. With the help of the heavy "Angara-A5", a reusable manned spacecraft "Eagle" (former name - "Federation"), which is being developed at S. P. Korolev Rocket and Space Corporation Energia (Korolev, Moscow Region), will be launched from Vostochny.
