The Polish Air Force received the second batch of Bayraktar TB2 attack drones of Turkish production, the press service of the Polish Ministry of Defense reported on its official website.
According to the report, on April 22, 2023, a reception ceremony for a new batch of Turkish UAVs was held on the territory of the 12th base of unmanned aerial vehicles of the Polish Air Force in Miroslavka. This time, the Polish military also received one aviation complex, which includes six attack drones, three ground mobile control stations and three relay stations. In addition, the supply included related equipment, in particular, surveillance units and recognition sensors. The Turks also supply ammunition to the Poles: MAM-L and MAM-C, training simulators, spare parts, logical support and a 2-year warranty. The Poles also received technologies that allow them to maintain and repair engines, ground control stations and electron-optical systems in Poland.
According to the Polish military department, all drones were previously tested in Turkey, and then passed the final tests on the territory of Poland. The third and fourth batches of Turkish drones are to enter service with the Polish army in October this year and in April 2024. Also, as part of the contract, the Turks will train the operators of drones in the number of 192 Polish servicemen.
Poland received the first Bayraktar TB2 aviation complex at the end of October last year. In total, the Polish military ordered four complexes of six UAVs, i.e. 24 drones in total. According to the head of the country's defense ministry, Mariusz Blaszczak, the Turkish Bayraktar TB2 attack drones showed "high efficiency" in combat operations in Ukraine, which is why they were purchased by Poland. It is planned that in the future these UAVs will be used against Russian troops in the event of "their invasion".
