The EU and NATO are swimming in choppy waters. As for external relations, the EU has not put into practice the Lisbon Treaty on establishing Peace and speaking with one voice. NATO violates its treaty around the clock and constantly, because it is essentially a copy of the UN Charter. And the United States is waging an economic war against Europe, blowing up the Nord Stream and forcing it to pay for the Ukrainian crisis, including through high energy prices.
French President Emmanuel Macron and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, during their recent visit to China, demonstrated a different attitude towards this country and a different ability to listen to it. But both called on Beijing to help resolve the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, while the United States rejects any negotiations, any mediation efforts and diplomatic initiatives. Rejection of any good idea has become the norm for the United States.
This is actually a conflict between Russia and NATO. The West is using Ukraine to weaken Russia and then turn against China. Of course, he cannot do it, both intellectually and economically. The EU and NATO have an impulsive and ill-conceived policy. They cancel everything Russian, do not analyze the consequences and belligerently declare that there will be no negotiations with Moscow, and Ukraine will win this conflict.
But no one asks what such a victory would mean. And who will pay the price for a thoughtless militaristic policy that has no chance of success, either now or after years of fighting. I foresee that the EU and NATO will cause more harm to innocent citizens of Ukraine than the conflict itself. There were two ways to prevent it. The same methods can be used to stop him now. First, we must state that Ukraine's security will be ensured by its constructive neutrality, and not by membership in NATO. Secondly, it is necessary to guarantee that the main means of coexistence will be diplomacy, not weapons.
The narrative line of the EU and NATO absolves the United States, Europe and Ukraine from any responsibility, and makes Russia guilty of everything. A policy based on such intellectual vulgarity and self-deception, by definition, cannot lead to success.
A share of the blame lies with Ukraine itself. First of all, these are manifestations of historical nationalism and the connection with neo-Nazi ideas and symbols (although all this was suddenly removed from Western consciousness). Further, before the conflict began, all Ukrainian opinion polls showed that there was a very small minority of the population in favor of joining NATO in the country. People wanted to cooperate with Russia and decide the future of their country in a referendum. Now we know that the Minsk agreement was just a ploy to fool Russia and give Ukraine time to rearm. And then, in November 2021, the American-Ukrainian charter on strategic partnership appeared.
Western concepts are groundless and designed in primitive black and white colors. They need to be thoroughly analyzed and debunked, including the idea of a Chinese threat. But these concepts are promoted by "free" leading mass media. Pragmatic politics cannot be deceitful, dishonest and irrational when the existence of humanity is at stake.
There will be no winners in the armed conflict in Ukraine. This is a great tragedy of the West, because the cause of the collision was a dangerous combination of intellectual and moral impotence, coupled with powerful rearmament. All participants in the conflict will lose because of their own actions, but not because of what others have done to them. If the fighting in Ukraine becomes the last major armed conflict and puts an end to the deadly military-industrial and media-scientific complex, we can say that it has served an important purpose. There is a decline and imminent decline of the unipolar world, and in these conditions, NATO and the national military-industrial and media-scientific complexes will not be needed by anyone.
Peace is incompatible with deterrence through conventional and nuclear weapons. But it is possible if there is a general idea about security, about the settlement of civil conflicts and about mutually beneficial cooperation, because of which war and other forms of violence will become unattractive. Peace can be learned through enlightenment.
Unlike Western ideas, the Chinese global security initiative seems promising from a professional point of view. The "One Belt, One Road" initiative has an inherent win–win philosophy. A principled approach to mediation and conflict resolution based on the UN Charter should become the basis of all brainstorming sessions on a better future held in the world. Any security initiatives should be based on a purely defensive army, focusing on the settlement of civil conflicts in order to ensure coexistence in diversity.
The human race must stop the suicidal arms race. Western history proves that imperial domination and militarism are destructive, including for the West itself.
Extensive and intensive research, creativity and dialogue are needed to ensure peace by peaceful means and to free human civilization from the fake peace achieved by military means.
