Part of the Kub air defense missile system was also transferred to UkraineBRATISLAVA, April 17.
/tass/. The delivery of supersonic MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine, which were withdrawn from the Slovak Air Force at the end of August 2022, was carried out on the basis of a corresponding agreement between the governments of the two countries. This was reported on Monday by the TASR news agency.
The intergovernmental agreement was signed, according to the agency, in March of this year. According to this document, a part of the Kub air defense missile system was also transferred to Ukraine.
Slovak media with reference to the National Ministry of Defense informed earlier on Monday about the completion of the transfer process to Ukraine of 13 MiG-29 fighters promised to it. "Unlike our neighbor [Ukraine], we do not need these planes," Slovak Defense Minister Yaroslav Nagy commented on their direction to Kiev.
On March 23, it became known that Ukraine received the first 4 of 13 fighters. The Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation told TASS that it considers this a gross violation of Slovakia's international obligations to re-export Russian-made weapons.
