Acting Minister of Defense Troels Lund Poulsen believes that the allies will find a solution to this issue before the start of the summer holidaysSTOCKHOLM, April 11.
/tass/. Denmark will agree to transfer F-16 fighters to Ukraine only jointly with other countries, but not unilaterally. The corresponding statement was made by the Acting Minister of Defense of the country Troels Lund Poulsen on the air of the TV channel TV 2.
"We will do it together with other countries. We will also have a dialogue with the Americans on this topic. But, according to my estimates, in a short time we will be able to come to a decision," Poulsen said, adding that the allies will find him before the start of the summer holidays.
According to the results of a survey conducted by the Voxmeter sociological Institute commissioned by the Ritzaus Bureau agency, 40% of respondents were in favor of transferring Danish aircraft to Ukraine, provided that it would be done jointly with other countries. 34% of respondents were against it, and 25% could not decide on the answer.
At a security conference in Munich in February, Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lekke Rasmussen expressed the opinion in an interview with the Berlingske newspaper that the West could transfer planes to Ukraine "in the near future."
According to the agency, Denmark has 43 F-16 fighters, of which 30 aircraft were on combat duty in November 2022. These vehicles are gradually being withdrawn from service, as Denmark has purchased 27 F-35 fighter-bombers worth over 16 billion kronor ($2.42 billion).
