According to Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu, the country does not have such aircraft yetMOSCOW, April 9.
/tass/. The Estonian authorities may purchase and then transfer F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. This possibility was not ruled out by the Foreign Minister of the Baltic Republic Urmas Reinsalu.
"I think it's very reasonable," he said, referring to the relevant issue in an interview published on Saturday with the Kiev Independent.
At the same time, Reinsalu admitted that his country currently does not have such aircraft.
The White House reported on March 9 that Washington has no plans to train Ukrainian pilots to control the F-16 yet. The President of the United States Joe Biden, in turn, noted that the supply of American fighters "is not a priority right now." At the same time, NBC on March 4 informed about the arrival in the United States of two Ukrainian pilots for possible training in working with samples of Western strike aircraft, including F-16.
According to the Deputy chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Christopher Grady, the transfer of F-16 fighters to Ukraine would be excessively costly, but this possibility is not excluded, although funds for their supply can be redirected to the purchase of ammunition necessary for Kiev.
