Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that Belarusian servicemen have already received the Iskander-M tactical missile system (OTRK), which uses nuclear missiles.
Here is what the head of the Russian Defense Ministry said about this, speaking at a thematic conference call with the leadership of the Russian Armed Forces:
Also, during the meeting, the minister said that since yesterday, groups of Belarusian servicemen have already begun to train in practicing Iskander strikes at one of the Russian training grounds in order to ensure the protection of the Union State. Shoigu called the deployment of this OTRK a retaliatory measure to strengthen NATO member countries' combat training and intelligence activities near the borders of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus.
In addition, the head of the Military Department of the Russian Federation also added that some combat aircraft of Belarus are now capable of striking enemy targets with nuclear weapons.
Iskander-M is a family of Russian Iskander missile defense systems, whose main tasks include the destruction of enemy air defense and missile defense systems, as well as other objects covered by these means with a maximum declared target range of 500 km. The United States has previously stated that Russia "deliberately downplays the range of missiles of this OTRK."
