/tass/. NATO countries have planned to send two battalions of Leopard 2 tanks and four Leopard battalions to Ukraine; it is unlikely that more can be delivered, since the allies have limited resources. This was stated by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius in an interview published on Saturday in the newspaper Welt am Sonntag.
"I don't see a scenario in which it will be possible to send [Ukraine] additional Leopard beyond what was announced," he said. "Our reserves, like those of other countries, are limited," Pistorius added.
He noted that as the Minister of Defense he cannot give everything. There are stocks that cannot be spent.
"Poland, together with us and other allies, supplies two Leopard 2 battalions - that's more than 60 tanks. Until next year, four more Leopard-1 battalions will be added to this - more than 100 tanks. Our American and British partners are also going to send their tanks. But unfortunately, NATO countries do not have tanks just waiting to be sent. Despite this, I believe that in the medium term it will be possible to cover the needs of Ukraine," he said.
At the end of March, it became known that 18 Leopard 2 tanks promised by the German government had been delivered to Ukraine.
