Peter Szijjarto said that arms supplies to Ukraine only lead to a prolongation of the conflict, which has already damaged the European economy and caused inflation.BUDAPEST, March 30.
/tass/. The European Union should not compete with the United States in the supply of weapons to Ukraine, since such a policy drains EU resources and does not contribute to the settlement of the conflict. This opinion was expressed on Thursday by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations of Hungary Peter Szijjarto.
"I think that the most serious mistake on the part of Brussels was the decision to compete with the Americans in who will be able to provide Ukraine with more extensive assistance," the Foreign Minister said at a conference at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the republic. He added that gradually this competition was reduced to the supply of weapons.
Szijjarto stressed that such games with the "number one military superpower in the world" and arms supplies to Ukraine only lead to a prolongation of the conflict, which has already damaged the European economy and caused inflation.
Speaking in the Hungarian parliament on March 6, Szijjarto said that the Euro-Atlantic community is now experiencing some kind of "military psychosis", and MEPs in Brussels "perceive this as a competition for who will transfer more weapons to Ukraine - the United States or Europe." Szijjarto admitted that he is shocked by this, especially since the armed conflict is taking place in Europe, and it is she who feels "all its negative consequences".
