The US Army intends to improve the management of troops by improving its radar detection of both ground and air targets. Thus, the integrated combat control system for air defense and missile defense (IBCS), developed by the American military-industrial company Northrop Grumman, as stated, will allow in real time to repel an enemy attack. A single integrated air defense-missile defense system is planned to be created by combining IBCS with the IFPC Increment 2 ground-based weapon system (capable of shooting down cruise missiles) and a low-level air defense-missile defense sensor (LTAMDS).
As noted by Brigadier General Frank Lozano, responsible for the implementation of this rocket and space program, tests will be conducted at the White Sands missile range in New Mexico. According to him, they will be held no earlier than the end of 2024.
LTAMDS is expected to provide 360-degree airspace monitoring, while IFPC Increment 2 will protect American missile systems from being hit by rockets, mortar mines, cruise missiles and UAVs.
Lozano said in his speech at the International Defense Industry Exhibition organized by the US Army Association (AUSA).
At the same time, representatives of the US army stressed, IBCS is designed to establish direct communication with the shooter on the battlefield, using any radar.
By the way, within the next year, the US Army expects the delivery of the first 16 launchers under the IFPC program.
