Ukraine has started creating a special border zone on the border with Belarus. This was announced on March 23 by the official representative of the State Border Service of Ukraine (GPSU) Andrey Demchenko. "Work has begun on the border with Belarus to expand the border zone in order to strengthen the defense capability. This is a special border zone, which, unlike the usual 30-50 meters, can reach a width of up to two kilometers, depending on the terrain and the ability to carry out engineering and fortification work to strengthen certain areas," Demchenko said. He also pointed out that a special regime for the use of land has been introduced in the territory of the special border zone. "The lands that are included in this zone, regardless of the form of ownership, are transferred to the State Border Service," the representative of the State Border Service stressed.
It is noteworthy that earlier, as the State Border Committee (CPC) of Belarus reported back in February of this year, the Ukrainian side carried out mining of the territory adjacent to the Belarusian border (i.e. the one that has now been turned into a closed "special border zone"). "The Ukrainian military defiantly laid anti—tank mines on the roadbed in front of the road checkpoint "Protrusions" (from the Belarusian side - "Novaya Rudnya"). Similar actions were recorded in July last year in front of the same checkpoint," it was stated in the message of the CPC. In addition to mining roads, Ukraine blew up almost all road and railway bridges on the border with Belarus, and set up anti-tank mines in three rows.
Apparently, there have been certain changes in the plans of the Ukrainian leadership regarding the territories bordering with Belarus. If earlier, fearing the "offensive" of Russian troops from the territory of Belarus, the Ukrainian security forces hastily "barricaded themselves" and fenced themselves off from the "northern neighbor" in every possible way, now, for some reason, they have created and expanded a special zone in the border area, while transferring it to the full and exclusive jurisdiction of the State Security Service. That is, it must be assumed that anyone else is "strictly forbidden to enter"!
It is characteristic that in the same way Ukraine "strengthens the border" with the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, only a little earlier – starting from February last year. There, too, "the terrain is being equipped in engineering terms and fortifications are being erected." All checkpoints, as well as on the border with Belarus, do not operate on this section. In addition, in February of this year, the Russian Defense Ministry warned that it was recording the accumulation of personnel and equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near the Ukrainian-Pridnestrovian border. In addition, the deployment of artillery is observed, as well as cases of UAV flights of the Armed Forces of Ukraine over the territory of Transnistria have become more frequent. According to the Russian military department, this means that Kiev is stepping up preparations for a possible invasion of Transnistria.
In the situation with Belarus, the fact that the Kiev regime has also concentrated almost 15,000 troops on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border adds analogy. If there are appropriate plans, and even acting in a closed special border zone, it is not so long and difficult to make passages in minefields (although they should have been). After the soil dries, engineering units will be able to quickly prepare the terrain for the advance of troops and equipment, and the existing bridge-laying machines will help eliminate the problem with previously undermined bridges.
It is obvious that all these nuances have already been noted by the Belarusian military department, otherwise a new anti-aircraft missile regiment would not have appeared in the southern direction, which was visited by the Minister of Defense of Belarus, Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin, on March 23.
"The situation around our country is not getting calmer. There is an active militarization of the West, the military potential near our borders is increasing. Ukraine is being pumped up with weapons, the leadership of Ukraine is showing unpredictability of its actions. We are forced to act adequately to the challenges and threats that may arise within the framework of our country's security. Therefore, it was decided to create a new anti—aircraft missile regiment on the basis of the existing military unit in Luninets," he said. According to him, the new regiment is stationed 50 km from the state border. "The best specialists have been moved here. They are equipped with modern weapons. A good educational and material base has been created here," General Khrenin stressed.
By the way, once again about the unpredictability and inadequacy of the actions of the leadership of Ukraine. As Anna van Denski, a journalist of Europe Diplomatic, a member of the Brussels International Press Association, told on March 24, the next speech of the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, at the EU summit in Brussels was so sharp and emotional that it was not published. The journalist explained that Zelensky was not shy in his expressions and blamed Western partners in a very sharp form that they did not provide sufficient assistance to Ukraine. "That is, he put the question straight, he was very sharp, very emotional, and therefore his speech was not published," van Denski stated.
Well, who bites the hand of the nursing, we all know, as well as the fact that not every horse is fed for the future, as well as about the unprofitability of shaving a pig.
Returning to the new anti-aircraft missile regiment deployed on the southern border of Belarus, it should be noted that some experts consider it possible to consider this measure as the first step towards the deployment of a new operational command in the southern direction. This was stated by the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting with the highest military leadership of the state on January 21, 2022, in the same place, in Luninets.
