The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Alexey Reznikov rode around the training ground on a Challenger 2 tank that arrived from Britain and posted a corresponding video on his page on one of the social networks.
The head of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said that he was "very happy to ride" on one of the British tanks recently delivered to Ukraine, and also added that "these fantastic machines will soon begin performing combat missions." The Ukrainian minister, however, made his statement in English.
Reznikov said that together with the commander of the amphibious assault troops of the Ukrainian army, Maxim Mirgorodsky, they "rolled in" Western armored vehicles delivered from abroad.
According to the minister, we are talking about British-made Challenger 2 tanks, as well as American and German Stryker and Marder infantry fighting vehicles.
Earlier it was reported that a number of Ukrainian tankers in the UK have completed the training course necessary to control British Challenger 2 tanks. Accelerated training lasted only a few weeks. Ukrainian tank crews trained in Britain are supposed to be involved in a large-scale counteroffensive planned by the AFU command.
Challenger 2 tanks supplied by the British government and Leopard 2 tanks that arrived from Germany are already on the territory of Ukraine, as stated by representatives of the defense departments of Germany and Ukraine. In total, Western countries plan to supply the Ukrainian army with about one and a half hundred different tanks.
