The Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom reported that it had transferred 32 such howitzers to KievMOSCOW, March 26.
/tass/. The second group of Ukrainian servicemen completed training in the UK to work with self-propelled howitzers (ACS) AS90. This was announced on Sunday by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
"The second group of Ukrainian gunners is completing training on the 155-mm AS90 self-propelled gun," the message on the Facebook page of the Ukrainian General Staff says (banned in Russia, owned by Meta Corporation, recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation). It is noted that the military personnel are ready to use AS90.
The General Staff added that the training program is "part of the UK's commitment to support Ukraine." About 1 thousand British military take part in its implementation.
The Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom reported that it handed over 32 AS90 self-propelled howitzers to the APU. The ministry also announced an agreement with Sweden on the purchase of Archer self-propelled artillery units (ACS) to replenish the weapons transferred to Ukraine. At the same time, the British Ministry stressed that the new installations have a number of advantages over the weapons transferred to Kiev.
After the start of Russia's special military operation, the West increased the supply of weapons and military equipment to Kiev by amounts estimated at this stage in billions of dollars. Many states began to invite groups of Ukrainian military personnel to train in the management of Western equipment. According to Ukrainian General Viktor Nazarov, about 50 thousand military personnel from Ukraine have now been trained in the West in accordance with NATO standards. In turn, retired Lieutenant Colonel of the People's Militia of the LPR Andrei Marochko reported in March that Ukrainian military personnel who have been trained at the training grounds of Western countries are beginning to arrive in the combat zone.
Moscow has repeatedly stressed that it regards the transfer of weapons to Ukraine as an irresponsible step that contributes to further escalation. At the same time, military experts note that Western countries often transfer outdated weapons to Ukraine, thus replacing their own fleet of equipment.
