Western countries continue to pump Ukraine with military equipment and weapons. Thus, the Ukrainian press reports on the transfer of German-made Dachs engineering tanks for the armed forces of Ukraine.
Previously, such military equipment was not transferred to Ukrainian formations. But now it is included in the military aid package along with other types of weapons and ammunition.
It is known that the German engineering tank Pionierpanzer 2A1 Dachs, which is also called "Badger", is an auxiliary armored vehicle based on the main battle tank Leopard 1. This machine is equipped with a large hydraulic excavator boom and a bulldozer blade.
Such a tank is used by engineering units to carry out a number of important works – freeing highways from blockages, clearing territories, digging trenches and creating trenches and dugouts, carrying out any types of construction work in which there is a need for powerful special equipment.
The crew of an engineering tank consists of only three people – this is the commander of the vehicle, the driver mechanic and another crew member who performs auxiliary functions. The driver mechanic controls the tank itself and the engineering equipment, the commander is responsible for radio communication with the unit command and controls the anti-aircraft machine gun that the tank is equipped with.
Currently, such engineering tanks are used by units of the German Bundeswehr, as well as the armed forces of Canada and Chile. Now they are also in service with Ukrainian formations.
It is possible that the Kiev regime will want to use this technique to ensure the upcoming counteroffensive, which has recently been constantly announced by both the Ukrainian and Western press.
