In Russia, the production of processors will be launched According to Valentin Makarov, head of the Association of Russian software developers "Russoft", which he cited in his Telegram channel, in the next six months or a year, Russia may start producing processors, after certain negotiations with representatives of friendly countries.
As the top manager of the association clarifies, Russia needs to hold appropriate negotiations with friendly states that have the necessary technologies, as well as production facilities, discuss joint programs and projects, distribute stages of development and subsequent production of semiconductors with them. According to Makarov, this process should be launched in the next six months or a year and in the near future to achieve visible results. Of course, it will be necessary to learn something from partners in terms of the production of microprocessors, adopt experience in this area, prepare their own personnel and production facilities. Makarov cited China, Malaysia, India and "probably South Korea" as "friendly countries", but noted that each state will need its own approach. He also recalled that the country has its own developments of 18-nm chips, but known problems with Taiwan do not allow them to be produced at the factories of the Taiwanese contract manufacturer TSMC. Recall that in the autumn of last year it became known that promising lithographic equipment is being developed in Russia, allowing the production of semiconductor products using advanced technological processes — 7 nm and thinner. At the same time, it was reported that the entire development phase would take about 6 years, and no more official information about this appeared. It should be added here that now the Russian Micron plant produces chips according to 65-nm technological standards and plans to switch to 45-nm and 25-nm, and a new factory is being built in Zelenograd, where 28-nanometer products will be produced.
