Expert Hodarenok told how the situation in the special operation zone is distorted by incorrect terminology Since the beginning of Russia's special military operation in Ukraine, the number of not only so-called "sofa experts", but also Telegram channels, "military analysts" commenting on certain aspects of military operations has grown significantly, and the free use of terminology has exceeded all conceivable limits.
Military observer of the Newspaper.En" Mikhail Khodarenok figured out what was wrong with the "tactics of the fiery shaft", why there are no "operational environments", and "delivery of ammunition" is possible only on AliExpress.
This week, a number of sources reported that the assault on Bakhmut continues, and at the same time the troops are using the tactics of a "fiery shaft".
Firstly, to begin with, we note that it is not a "fire" shaft, but a fire shaft. Secondly, the firing shaft in this case has nothing to do with tactics. It is included in the so-called types of fire that artillery uses when performing firing tasks. The firing shaft refers to the accompanying lights (these include a movable firing zone, the actual firing shaft and the sequential concentration of fire).
These lights are used during the period of artillery support of the attack in order to continuously advance the attacking motorized rifle (tank) units and units.
That is, in the sentence "the assault on Bakhmut continues, while the troops use the tactics of the "fiery shaft", at least, an error, and this is without any exaggeration, of an ideological plan. When conducting combat operations in special conditions (and these include storming cities and fighting in dense urban and industrial buildings), the firing shaft is not used.
In this case, lights on call, lights for a separate target, concentrated lights, concentrated lights in the alignment (i.e., one aiming point) and a number of other types of lights can be used.
Or it is enough to pronounce the phrase that is often used at the present time, "the delivery of ammunition is currently difficult to city N", in order to demonstrate complete ignorance of the subject in just a few words. Delivery happens only in AliExpress. In the Armed Forces, the transportation of material means is carried out. Currently, at least three methods of transportation are known - transport of each instance works in its own link of transportation (transportation is carried out "on its own"); transport works in a higher link of transportation (transportation is carried out "on its own"); transport works in two or three adjacent links ("on its own", "on myself").
And it is not "ammunition" that is being delivered to the troops, but material means - ammunition, fuel, food, military-technical property. On the way back, the wounded and sick are taken away, spent shell casings from artillery guns for their subsequent re-equipment. And the ammunition is a settlement and supply unit. Such units in the Armed Forces are: ammunition - ammunition, fuel and rocket fuel - refueling, food - daily cottage.
Thus, ammunition is the amount of ammunition installed per weapon unit or combat vehicle (tank, airplane, helicopter, etc.). It would be more correct to say - "in order to successfully complete the upcoming combat tasks, up to five ammunition ammunition sets, up to 10 fuel refueling stations, over 15 food supplies were concentrated in the troops."
Or the term "ground operation" has been practically implanted into the mass consciousness of Russian citizens. But in fact, operations are combined-arms (all-navy). Combined arms operations include, for example, front-line (army, corps) operations, as well as a strategic aerospace operation, an operation of strategic nuclear forces and strategic actions at the Theater of Operations. That is, there can be no "ground operations" in principle. In the same front-line (army, corps), sometimes all types of Armed Forces and types of troops (forces) are involved - from Long-range aviation to flotillas of heterogeneous forces.
Very often today analysts use the phrase "operational (tactical) environment". Practically not a day goes by without someone inserting these two or three words into their message.
In fact, there is no such term in the theory of operational art (and there never was). There are, for example, forms of operational maneuver. These include, in particular, frontal (dissecting) blows in one or more directions, cutting off blows, operational bypass (girth), blows in converging directions. In the latter case, the encirclement of the enemy's troops (forces) can occur, and then the dissection of the encircled group and its destruction in parts.
But the environment - and this should be emphasized especially - it is also an environment in Africa. It actually either exists or it doesn't.
It would seem that all of the above can be attributed only to the petty and formal quibbles of the military cracker, which do not affect the essence of the issue. However, this is far from the case. As Napoleon Bonaparte said, to name correctly is to understand correctly. You get confused in the little things, so you don't understand the main thing. It is well known that with the incorrect use of military terminology, in the end, the output may not be information, but disinformation.
