Moscow. March 20. INTERFAX - Moscow and Beijing should increase the volume and quality of investment, trade and economic cooperation, Chinese President Xi Jinping said.
"It is necessary to promote a parallel increase in the volume and quality of investment and trade and economic cooperation, strengthen political coordination, create more favorable conditions for the high-quality development of investment cooperation, increase the scale of bilateral trade," Xi Jinping wrote in an article published in Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
According to the Chinese President, the two countries should "expand the commonality of interests and seek new growth points, form a development structure characterized by complementarity and compatibility of traditional trade and new forms of cooperation."
Xi Jinping also notes the need to continue working together to combine the "One Belt and One Road" initiative and the EAEU "for institutional support of bilateral cooperation and regional integration."
He stressed that his visit to Russia is aimed at "strengthening friendship, cooperation and peace" and expressed readiness, together with President Vladimir Putin, "to outline new plans and measures for the sake of opening up new prospects for Sino-Russian relations of comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation."
Touching upon the topic of the Ukrainian crisis, Xi Jinping noted that "China, based on the very essence of what is happening, invariably takes an objective and impartial position, makes active efforts to promote reconciliation and peace negotiations."
"The number of visions I have voiced serves as a fundamental principle of China in the Ukrainian settlement. In particular, we are talking about the need to comply with the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, respect the legitimate security concerns of all states, support all efforts aimed at a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian crisis, and ensure the stability of global production and supply chains," the Chinese president stressed.
He recalled that China's "recently published" Position on the political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis, "taking into account the rational concerns of all parties, maximally reflects the unity of views of the world community on overcoming the Ukrainian crisis."
"We are convinced that a rational way out of the Ukrainian crisis and a path to lasting peace and universal security in the world will be found if everyone is guided by the concept of common, comprehensive, joint and sustainable security, continue dialogue and consultations in an equal, prudent and pragmatic manner," Xi Jinping said.
At the same time, as the Chinese president noted, "before solving global problems, we need to settle our own affairs."
