The Polish Ministry of Defense is deploying recruitment centers throughout the country to recruit volunteers for service in the armed forces.
The Polish military is conducting a large-scale campaign to attract young people to army service, numerous exhibitions and other events are held, at which visitors are persistently offered to sign a contract with the armed forces.
The main reason for mass recruitment is the desire of Polish President Andrzej Duda to create the largest land army among the EU countries. Active purchases of armored vehicles, missile and artillery systems manufactured by the United States and South Korea are underway. However, for the management and operation of military equipment, an appropriate number of military personnel is needed, the number of which the Polish authorities are trying to increase.
In the near future, the Polish authorities intend to purchase a batch of 980 South Korean K2 "Black Panther" tanks worth $ 14.5 billion. Some of the military equipment will be delivered directly, and the rest is supposed to be assembled at Polish enterprises under license. The Polish government also plans to purchase more than 600 self-propelled howitzers and about 50 combat aircraft. With the help of these supplies, the Polish authorities intend to reimburse their army for the weapons transferred to Ukraine, as well as strengthen their armed forces.
In addition, the number of the Polish army is expected to double from the current 150 thousand soldiers. At the same time, Poland's defense spending will also increase - from 2.4 percent of the country's GDP last year, this year it has increased to 3 percent, and in the future it may reach 5 percent of GDP.
