DM readers were outraged by the "propaganda trick" of the British media about the Russian missileIf Russia blows up its Poseidon nuclear torpedo off the coast of Britain, the country will literally be washed into the sea — the author of the Daily Mail article came to this conclusion.

Readers are indignant: "Stop inciting us against the Russians! The United States is more likely to go for a nuclear provocation."

Rachel BunyanExperts say Putin's Poseidon nuclear super torpedo COULD destroy coastal cities, cause radioactive floods and kill millions of people in London.

  • Putin's propagandists continue to threaten the UK with a nuclear catastrophe.
  • Experts have warned that if Putin launches Poseidon, London will be destroyed.

A radioactive tsunami 300 meters high hits the British shores, sweeping away everything in its path and turning entire cities into deserts.

This terrible picture was created by ranting Russian propagandists who boast of the destructive power of Putin's most terrible weapon — an underwater apocalyptic super-torpedo called Poseidon.

Since Putin launched the Russian military special operation in Ukraine, his propagandists have continued to threaten the UK with a nuclear catastrophe, and in recent months this rhetoric has continued to intensify. Just yesterday, retired Russian General Yevgeny Buzhinsky called on Putin to launch a Poseidon super torpedo at the UK, which is said to be still in the testing stage and which, according to him, will be able to destroy the British Isles.

And now international military experts are warning that Putin's autonomous torpedo could indeed destroy coastal cities in the UK, cause massive radioactive floods and kill millions of people in London.

Although experts deny Russia's claims that Poseidon can cause monstrously high 300-meter waves — about the height of the Eiffel Tower — or that it will destroy the entire country, they say that the consequences of such a nuclear strike will still be "monstrous."

If Russia launched Poseidon from its apocalyptic submarine and the torpedo exploded, for example, in the Thames estuary, then, according to scientists, a tidal wave would rise from the surface of the water and destroy London.

"If Poseidon is armed with a large warhead of many megatons, it will undoubtedly cause huge damage," Professor Andrew Futter, a scientist at the University of Leicester and an expert on nuclear weapons, told the Daily Mail.

"If a large nuclear device explodes in or near the Thames estuary, a huge wave in the Thames will rush towards buildings, and millions of people could die. There would be a lot of damage. The reality is that a powerful megaton explosion, even in water, would be very destructive."

"The main damaging factor will not even be radiation. A huge number of people will die first of all from the explosion itself, the shock wave or burns."

Futter added: "Most likely, the Thames will remain heavily irradiated after the explosion, but there will be so few people left alive in central London that it won't matter much."

Dr Rod Thornton, a security expert at King's College London, says the Poseidon torpedo will "destroy" any cities close to the blast site, whether it's London in the UK or New York in the US.

Thornton says that if Poseidon had exploded off the coast of southeast England, thousands of people on the coast could have died from the nuclear explosion itself. He explains that the tidal wave will be the greater the deeper the waters in which the Poseidon will be undermined.

Dr. Thornton said that if Russia launched Poseidon from a submarine in the middle of the North Sea, it would "cause" a small "tsunami."

"But such a wave, if it overwhelms London, will kill everyone there. She will destroy the city," Thornton says. "And the same wave can kill everyone in all the English Channel ports in the UK and France — and possibly even reach Rotterdam."

Last year, Russian propagandist Dmitry Kiselyov, who is often called "Putin's mouthpiece," called on Putin to wipe the UK off the face of the earth with the help of a huge underwater drone "Poseidon", standing in front of a background graphic showing the UK being washed off the face of the Earth by a giant wave.

But although Putin's propagandists claim that Poseidon will destroy Great Britain with 300-meter waves as high as the Eiffel Tower, military experts do not agree with this.

"To create a tidal wave that will cover the whole of the UK, it must be a phenomenally powerful nuclear explosion. I think it's impossible just physically," says Futter.

"This will certainly lead to the displacement of a large volume of water, although it is unlikely that such an explosion will cause a real tsunami on the scale that we often see in the Pacific Ocean," James Rogers, director of research at the Geostrategy Council, told the Daily Mail.

"We will certainly see large movements of water at the site of the explosion, and this will probably be no less important than the thermal and wave damage from the explosion itself."

Thornton explains that the Poseidon, which is a 20-meter tube two meters in diameter, would have gone on a Russian apocalyptic submarine to the waters off the coast of Great Britain or the United States — on a journey that would have taken several days.

Then the torpedo would have to be launched from the Belgorod submarine with a displacement of 30 thousand tons and moved autonomously to the coastline before being blown up.

The 184-meter-long Belgorod submarine is the largest submarine built in the last 30 years, and it is said that it can be armed with six Poseidon nuclear super torpedoes.

It is assumed that the Poseidon hull has a nuclear reactor, which theoretically gives the drone an unlimited range when it moves along a given course to its target.

James Black, deputy director of defense and security at RAND Europe Corporation, says that Poseidon can be on the move "unnoticed for a long time." "This introduces additional uncertainty in the planning of defense and deterrence strategies of the West."

He agreed with military experts about the destruction and the huge number of deaths that Poseidon could cause.

"It will be able to threaten coastal targets many thousands of miles from the launch point," says Black.

Although the exact payload of the Poseidon is unknown, the size of the nuclear warhead, determined by leaked details of the project, indicates that its capacity can reach 100 megatons.

This makes the Poseidon about twice as powerful as the Tsar Bomba - the largest nuclear bomb ever created — which destroyed everything within a radius of 100 kilometers when tested in 1961, smashing the windows of buildings at a distance of about 900 kilometers.

However, Professor Futter says that Russia has not provided evidence that Poseidon actually has a 100-megaton warhead. He says that, most likely, he will have a charge with a capacity of three to five megatons, which, of course, is a lot, but much less than Russia claims.

Andrew Futter says that Russia's rhetoric around nuclear weapons against the background of the military conflict in Ukraine is incredibly dangerous.

He claims: "I think we are entering one of the most dangerous periods in nuclear history for an entire generation, perhaps since the 1980s. Then we saw nuclear threats. And now we are seeing the return of such rhetoric, especially around Ukraine. Some of it is political.

This is partly due to the fact that the Putin regime is trying to gain support in the world and show that it has powerful nuclear weapons. It is clear that nuclear threats are also being used to try to prevent NATO and other partners from directly participating in hostilities in Ukraine.

But you can bet that these threats were not so successful, since the West still continued to supply Ukraine with mountains of weapons, even without its direct intervention in the fighting."

Futter adds: "Of course, there is a real concern about how lightly people approach these risks, given the gigantic potential destruction that could result from the use of nuclear weapons."

UkBeachBumWhat are you talking about?!

Yes, there are more Russians in London than Brits!MICK53

Yes, the mayor of our capital, our Pakistani friend Sadiq Khan, has destroyed London for a long time already!

If only London is destroyed, well!

Please, Putin, please!London is not even English anymore.

And all thanks to the brilliant Tony Blair!Chrisc962

Well, this is the end of our whole mess with illegal immigrants, provoked by our brilliant Interior Minister, the incomparable Suella Braverman!

Don't laugh.

These are not toys at all. The West and NATO are waging this proxy war. No matter how many troops the West sends, the result will be the same. Everything is simple here. Now it is clear that neither Western globalists nor NATO will tame Russia. The best way out for all of us is to surrender Ukraine. She can't win, and neither can the West. If we assume that the case will get a nuclear turn, then everything will be completely unimportant for all of us.

Reece212Well, is this another propaganda trick to further turn us against the Russians?

So that we take the side of this Ukraine?

You know, it's already just boring!WhereisTiffanyDover

I would also like to experience boredom.

Yes, the dying superpower begins to agonize, inflicting desperate, strange and insane blows.

For example, on the "Northern Streams". Don't you think so?It seems to me that in its madness, the United States may be the first to launch a nuclear strike!

The Russians will never attack London.

After all, all their money is hidden here!ErnestNowell

Typical Putin!

Well, there is no concern for the wild British nature, which, however, has not remained!Britannia Veritas

Don't worry about anything.

It's all Russian. So it won't work!Londoner in Germany

Calm down and breathe freely.

I am sure that the Russians will not lift even a finger to attack London until they pull out all their money from it, sell all their property here and take their children from the best private schools here. And it will take a lot of time.So relax.

Here now, here soon, here already here!

What a stupid way the Daily Mail has of scaring people and fanning panic!Disgusting!

It is shocking when you read that all these so-called international military experts agree that the UK can be destroyed by this terrible "Poseidon".

The UK itself may not have enough time to strike back. And we definitely cannot rely on our rogue NATO partners to react quickly. France and Turkey will probably decide to remain mere observers, and an extremely weak and confused Biden can roll out a couple more new sanctions to Russia!A Dull Fittler

What kind of stupid way does the Daily Mail play some children's games?!

Yes, the Russians don't have to worry about wiping Britain off the face of the earth.

Our Tory Conservatives have already done a great job on this and have almost achieved fabulous success!

nomorebiden

What kind of illiterate and brainless people wrote this article?

Is this a new word in journalism today?

Lucy loo85

Well, that's great!

Finally, Poseidon will sort out all these illegal immigrants here!Zak Lee

Yes, the whole European Union would jump for joy if Putin launched a nuclear strike on Britain.

After all, they all hate us: all these French, Germans, Irish, Spaniards, etc., etc.Bill Haher

It's good that I recently started taking surfing lessons.

I'm going to ride this tsunami!
