London. March 14th. INTERFAX - American strategic bombers B-52 Stratofortress with the support of British fighters flew over Europe, the command of the US Air Force in Europe reported.
"During the current mission of the Royal Air Force's Typhoon Bomber Task Force (fighters) escorted B-52s over Europe," the statement said.
At the same time, it is indicated that "such routine missions allow NATO allies to strengthen relations, expand their capabilities to reduce threats and ensure security in the region."
According to the US Air Force Command in Europe, last Thursday two American B-52 strategic bombers flew over the Balkans.
Bombers capable of carrying nuclear weapons carried out flights over the territory of Bulgaria and the southeastern part of Romania near the borders of Ukraine to the south of the Odessa region.
"The missions of operational bomber groups are routine operations that are carried out around the world in order to demonstrate the US commitment to collective defense, as well as integration with allies and partners," the command stressed earlier.
On March 6, a pair of American B-52 Stratofortress strategic bombers flew over Northern Europe. "Two B-52 Stratofortresses stationed at Moron Air Base (Spain) carried out a long-range mission of a target strategic bomber group in the European theater on March 6," the US military said in a statement.
According to the command, during the 12-hour mission, the bombers conducted flights, in particular, over Denmark, Poland and the Baltic.
On February 24, a group of four American B-52 Stratofortress strategic bombers arrived at Moron Air Base in Spain. Bombers from the 5th Air Wing from Minot Base, North Dakota, were transferred to Europe "to cooperate and strengthen relations with allies and NATO partners," the command said in a statement.
According to the US military, before arriving in Spain, two B-52s flew over Estonia after a transatlantic flight as part of the events dedicated to its independence Day. The low-altitude flight took place over Freedom Square in Tallinn during the parade in honor of the state holiday.
