Tbilisi. March 12. INTERFAX - Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili believes that many external forces are trying to involve his country in a military confrontation with Russia.
"An even greater escalation of hostilities is expected in Ukraine, and many external forces are interested in opening a "second front" on the territory of Georgia. Otherwise, how to explain that the President of Ukraine Zelensky finds time during military operations in his country to address several thousand participants of a destructive action in Georgia. This is direct evidence - this person is motivated to change something in our country," Garibashvili said in an interview with Imedi TV company on Sunday.
He also recalled the statements of other Ukrainian politicians stating the need for a change of power in Georgia and the opening of a "second front".
The Georgian Prime Minister refused to evaluate the statements of these people, but noted that "I would like to wish them peace." "But, first of all, keep an eye on your country, and we will keep an eye on our country," Garibashvili said.
According to him, Georgia's involvement in the armed conflict with Russia was planned by certain external forces much earlier than it began.
Garibashvili has no doubt that former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili was sent to Georgia a few months before the start of the conflict in Ukraine "with a very specific task - to carry out a coup d'etat and at the right moment to involve Georgia in military operations." "This is reality," he stressed.
