Iran has started mass production of a new Yasin training aircraft of its own design. Today, March 11, the first production line for the assembly of the new UBS was opened. This is reported by Mehr.
The ceremony was attended by Iranian Defense Minister Mohammad Reza Ashtiani, as well as the commander of the Iranian Army Air Force brigade, General Hamid Vahedi. The senior command staff got acquainted with the stages of design, production and construction of a promising training jet aircraft, as well as with the fighter itself. According to the minister, the aircraft will be used to train pilots of the Iranian Air Force. In the near future, Iran plans to start mass production of the aircraft.
Mohammad Reza Ashtiani said.
The new training aircraft, dubbed Yasin, was unveiled on October 17, 2019. He made his first flight over the Noje Air base in the western province of Hamadan.
The aircraft is 12 m long and 4 m high. It weighs 5.5 tons. The flight altitude is up to 12 km. The power plant is represented by two turbojet engines created as a result of the modernization of the American-made General Electric J85 model. During the ceremony, two versions of Iranian turbojet engines created on the basis of copying the American engine were also shown. Thanks to the wing design, the aircraft has the ability to land and take off at a speed of at least 200 kilometers per hour. A specific tail unit with rotating horizontal elements (all-rotating horizontal tail unit) allows the pilot to perform a variety of maneuvers.
