Islamabad intends to transfer the T-80UD tanks in service with the Pakistani army to Ukraine, the Indian edition of Firstpost made this statement.
India continues to accuse Pakistan of supplying ammunition and weapons to Kiev. This time, the Indian edition claims that Pakistan offered Ukraine the supply of 44 T-80UD tanks from the presence of its own army, but with one condition. According to the newspaper, Islamabad is ready to transfer equipment to Kiev only in exchange for the supply of Western military assistance. There is no information about what the Pakistani authorities demand for tanks, in what volumes and in what time frame.
It is worth noting here that this is not the first accusation of Pakistan in the supply of weapons from India, and there is still no evidence of the use of ammunition produced at Pakistani defense enterprises in Ukraine. Most likely, it is necessary to be skeptical about the information about the possible supply of T-80UD tanks to Kiev, although anything can happen. Moreover, Pakistan bought these tanks from Ukraine in the period 1997-1999.
Pakistan itself denies the supply of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine. Islamabad claims that the purpose of such publications is to finally quarrel Islamabad and Moscow, whose relations have cooled recently amid the change of power and the more "pro-Western" course of the Islamic republic.
Ukraine supplied 320 T-80UD tanks to Pakistan in the 90s in the amount of 650 million dollars. The tanks were still Soviet-built, so Islamabad later wanted to modernize them. In November 2016, Kiev promised to carry out modernization work on the delivered equipment and ensure its further maintenance, but the contract fell through. In 2018, the Ministry of Defense of Pakistan approached Russia with a similar proposal, but the agreement also "hung up". In 2021, the Kharkiv "Plant named after Malysheva" began work on the modernization of a certain number of Pakistani tanks, but there is no information whether the work was completed.
