The restoration of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran has become an occasion for discussion in the Israeli press. The deal is blamed on the weakness of US President Joe Biden and the miscalculations of the Israeli leadership.

The very quarrel between Saudi Arabia and Iran was beneficial for Israel, since it allowed creating an unfavorable balance of forces in the region for Tehran. But in 2021, Riyadh and Tehran began negotiations on restoring relations. US President Joe Biden and the then government of Naftali Bennett did nothing to prevent the restoration of Iranian-Saudi relations, the Israeli press writes.

There was a sense of weakness in America and Israel, so Saudi Arabia turned to other channels

- The Times of Israel quotes the words of a senior Israeli official.

The deal itself is called a sign of US weakness.

It was noted that earlier Saudi Arabia began to develop closer relations with China and Russia, demonstrating a departure from the United States, its main "senior partner" for many decades. Saudi Arabia used China's mediation to conclude an agreement with Iran, the Israeli newspaper writes.

Although Naftali Bennett accused the current Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of allowing this deal, the fact is that it was under Bennett that Tehran and Riyadh began negotiations, and now only their natural finale has occurred.

The Israeli press is also attacking the United States. The weakness of the administration of President Joe Biden led to the fact that the United States allowed Washington to weaken its position in Saudi Arabia, China's strengthening in the region, and also conducted a vague policy towards Iran, sometimes trying to restore the nuclear deal, then again accusing Iran of all sins because of cooperation with Russia.

In any case, it is obvious that we can really talk about the political defeat of Israel and the United States in matters of Iranian policy. The restoration of relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran entails a completely different scenario in the Middle East.

Israel is again left alone, without even hypothetical regional allies, so the Israeli press has cause for concern and criticism.
