According to the adviser to the acting head of the republic, Yan Gagin, we can also talk about the use of multi-purpose MiG-29 fightersDONETSK, March 10.
/tass/. The Armed Forces of Ukraine dropped a guided bomb of the American JDAM system in the Kurdyumovka area near Artemivsk (Ukrainian name - Bakhmut) in the Donetsk People's Republic to test the possibility of its use from a non-standard carrier - Soviet-style aircraft. This opinion was expressed on Friday by TASS military-political expert, adviser to the acting head of the DPR Yan Gagin.
"These are air-based bombs. They were originally made for NATO aviation. Ukraine does not have such aviation. We assume that this could be a combat test with a non-standard carrier. This may include the use of multi-purpose MiG-29 fighters," Gagin said.
According to him, the MiG-29 is one of the few machines that could be used to reset JDAM. Ukraine uses these multi-purpose fighters to launch HARM anti-radar missiles.
Earlier on Friday, the Ukrainian edition of Klymenko Time reported that the APU was used for the first time in the Donbass JDAM. As a confirmation, the publication publishes a video of the explosion, which is distributed in Ukrainian Telegram channels. Official confirmation of the fact of the use of the JDAM bomb by the Ukrainian authorities and the military has not yet been received.
At the end of February, Bloomberg reported, citing sources, that the United States would supply Ukraine with modified JDAM-ER (Joint Direct Attack Munition Extended Range) kits based on a global positioning system that would convert conventional aviation ammunition into guided. According to the publication, the GPS-guided design is attached to an aerial bomb weighing from 226 to 907 kg and with the help of wings allows it to plan to the target at a distance of up to 72 km.
