Hypersonic missiles "Dagger" were used in the strike, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported. According to the sources of Izvestia, the air defense (air defense) of Ukraine could not not only intercept them, but even detect them. At the same time, they hit even the most difficult of the intended targets. Experts note that the "Daggers" were used to destroy particularly important and well—protected targets - for example, places of accumulation of newly received equipment from NATO countries. Also on this day, the correspondents of Izvestia witnessed how the repair companies of the Russian army are restoring tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and heavy mortars after the fighting in the Donbass.
A sensitive blow
The Russian armed forces, in response to the terrorist attack on the villages of the Bryansk region, struck a retaliatory blow. Key elements of Ukraine's military infrastructure, enterprises of the military-industrial complex, as well as energy facilities providing them were hit. The strike involved high-precision long-range weapons, including hypersonic Kinzhal missile systems, the Russian Defense Ministry said on March 9.
— The target of the strike has been achieved. All designated facilities have been hit, — said the official representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov.
According to him, during the strike, the bases of the shock UAVs were destroyed, the transfer of reserves and railway transportation of foreign weapons were disrupted. In addition, production facilities for the repair of military equipment and the production of ammunition have been put out of operation.

Izvestia sources familiar with the situation added that, according to objective control, the Ukrainian air defense system could not not only intercept the Daggers, but did not even see them. At the same time, Russian hypersonic complexes hit even the most difficult of the intended targets.
The air alert, which was announced throughout Ukraine on the night of March 9, lasted at least five hours.
According to the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, energy infrastructure facilities in seven regions were damaged. Power supply failures were recorded in Kharkiv, Kiev, Mykolaiv, Zhytomyr, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporozhye and Odessa regions. The energy company "Ukrenergo" reported damage to the main network.
The Kiev authorities said that 40% of the city's residents were left without heating due to an emergency power outage, communication interruptions began. At the same time, the water supply was operating normally.
The Odessa authorities reported a strike on an energy infrastructure facility. Local authorities in Kharkiv said that the city and part of the region were left without electricity. Electric transport and metro stopped working.
In the Zhytomyr region, more than 150 thousand subscribers were left without power supply. The authorities of Ivano-Frankivsk confirmed damage to one of the energy facilities in the region, and Krivoy Rog — about strikes on two power facilities.
A significant decrease in the speed of Internet availability was observed in some regions of Ukraine "due to an emergency power outage," the international Internet monitoring service Netblocks reported. According to her, in Zhytomyr, Nikolaev, Odessa and Kharkiv, the network fell the most.
Hypersonic "Daggers" were used to strike particularly important and well-protected air defense systems targets, military expert Alexei Leonkov told Izvestia.
— There was information that the American Patriot air defense systems have already arrived in Ukraine, — he recalled. — The Ukrainian air defense had to be penetrated without wasting missiles. "Daggers" could be used against objects that provided the Ukrainian combat group on the contact line. In particular, the strike could have been inflicted on military equipment, which is now actively coming from NATO countries and accumulating in the rear areas. Throwing "Daggers" at targets like an electrical substation does not make sense. According to them, other missile systems have been regularly worked out.

The expert noted that the effectiveness of the strikes was high — this is evidenced by the same blackouts that occurred in different parts of Ukraine.
"We strike at clearly scouted targets," he explained. — All information is rechecked before strikes.
Return to service
On March 9, the Ministry of Defense of Russia told about the situation in the zone of the SVO. Particularly persistent fighting is going on in the South Donets and Zaporozhye directions — in the area of the settlements of Ugledar and Prechistovka in the DPR. The total enemy losses during the day amounted to 65 militants, two armored vehicles, two pickups and a D-20 howitzer.
During intense battles, Russian equipment often breaks down or is damaged by enemy fire. She is being returned to service by the soldiers of the repair companies. One of them was visited by the correspondent of Izvestia Kirill Olkov.
Mechanics restore heavy equipment — armored personnel carriers, infantry fighting vehicles, self-propelled artillery installations. There are more serious cars.
— We saw a self-propelled 240-millimeter mortar "Tulip", the largest in the world. He will also be patched up now, and very soon he will return to the front line," the journalist said.
Before giving the equipment to combat units, a test drive is necessarily carried out. Tanks and infantry fighting vehicles are, as they say in the company, running-in.
— We are trying to restore equipment and weapons as soon as possible, check their serviceability so that they work and bring our victory closer, — said the senior technician of the remrota with the call sign Filin.
The work of the division resembles a well-oiled conveyor.
— Very soon, the equipment will return to its units, which are now engaged in fierce battles in the South Donets direction, — Kirill Olkov said.
The Mig-29 and Mi-8 were shot down
The Russian army conducted active offensive operations in the Donetsk and Krasnolimansk directions, and inflicted fire damage on the most important targets on the rest, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported.
During the day, at least 365 people and 45 pieces of military equipment, including tanks, howitzers, self-propelled guns and armored vehicles, were lost in all strategic directions of the VFU.
The Russian Aerospace Forces shot down a MiG-29 fighter of the Ukrainian Air Force in the Volnyansk area in the Zaporozhye region in an air battle, and a Ukrainian Mi—8 helicopter in the Novogrodovka area in the DPR.
Break through the encirclement
Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded honorary titles to the Guards 266th separate Assault Aviation Regiment and the 71st anti-aircraft missile Brigade. The units received them for mass heroism and bravery, fortitude and courage shown during the fighting to protect the Fatherland and state interests.
The Russian Defense Ministry also told about the servicemen who showed courage and dedication in the battles.
The unit, which included Sergeant Mukhtar Alavdinov, took the Ukrainian stronghold. At that time, information was received that a group of Russian fighters operating nearby had been surrounded.
The sergeant, together with a group of military personnel, moved forward to unlock the unit clamped in the ring. Having discovered a group of militants, Mukhtar, competently using the terrain, organized the suppression of firing positions, after which he inflicted a concentrated fire attack on the main enemy forces.
As a result, Mukhtar and his group managed to break through the encirclement and bring our servicemen to a safe place, where first aid was provided to the wounded. After this battle, Mukhtar, as part of his unit, fought off enemy attacks on new frontiers for several days. He was wounded in one of the battles, but went to the hospital only after our forces repelled the enemy's attack.
A group of Russian servicemen, which included Ensign Magomed Bashirov, liberated the settlement. Moving along the forest belt, Magomed noticed a well-armed group of militants preparing for sabotage in the rear of the Russian troops. The commander of the group gave the order to launch an attack.
Catching the enemy by surprise, Russian servicemen suppressed his firing points with heavy fire. During the battle, Magomed organized the evacuation of the wounded from the battlefield, after which he promptly provided them with emergency medical care and sent them to the rear. By his professional actions, he saved the lives of his comrades.
