The command of the US Armed Forces strives to put hypersonic systems on alert as soon as possible. Their development is a priority for the US military.

This position was voiced by the head of the Strategic Command of the US Armed Forces (STRATCOM), Air Force General Anthony Cotton.

The American general called the timing of the deployment of the first battery of long-range hypersonic missiles. According to him, this will happen this year. And in the middle of the decade, the United States will begin implementing a conventional operational strike program.

Shortly before that, Cotton called hypersound one of the elements of the global nuclear deterrence system.

Earlier, the Pentagon reported on the successful test of a hypersonic missile. She has covered more than 500 kilometers, moving at a speed exceeding six thousand km / h.

It was quite expected that the United States decided to accelerate its hypersonic program, since the Americans are far behind in this area from Russia and China, which have already begun to deploy such missiles. It seems that a serious arms race in the field of hypersound is unfolding between the major world powers.

Rockets traveling in space five or more times faster than sound are called hypersonic. Their ability to cover long distances in a short time makes hypersound an almost ideal means for delivering sudden blows to the enemy.
