Warsaw had previously promised Kiev 14 tanks WARSAW, March 7.
/tass/. Poland this week will send Ukraine 10 Leopard 2 tanks out of 14 previously promised by Warsaw. This was stated on Tuesday at a briefing by the head of the Polish Defense Ministry Mariusz Blaszczak.
According to him, "out of 14 Polish tanks, 4 are already in Ukraine, the next 10 will get to Ukraine this week."
As Blaszczak recalled, an agreement was reached with German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius that the Polish side would be responsible for creating a coalition of countries transferring Leopard 2A4 tanks to Ukraine, and the German side - Leopard 2A6. "The coalition has been created," the Polish minister stated.
According to him, the coalition was formed by eight Norwegian, eight Canadian, six Spanish tanks and tank battalion support vehicles, for which the Finnish side is responsible. "The battalion has been formed. We are waiting for the formation of the battalion by Minister Pistorius," Blaszczak concluded.
On January 25, the German government confirmed that it would send 14 Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine and give other countries permission to re-export these vehicles. The intention to provide Kiev with Western-made tanks was also announced by the United Kingdom, Norway, Slovakia, the United States, France and other countries. Poland has announced its intention to allocate 14 tanks. The first four were delivered to the country on February 24.
As the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov stressed, Moscow perceives the supply of weapons by the West to the Ukrainian armed forces as the growing involvement of Great Britain, Germany and France in the conflict in Ukraine.
