An Nahar: The US will not approve the Chinese initiative on Ukraine because of fear of RussiaMoscow welcomed Beijing's initiative to resolve the Ukrainian crisis.
Even Kiev reacted positively to it, but Washington sharply criticized it, writes An Nahar. The United States intends to exhaust Russia, but in the event of a cease-fire, as China suggests, it will restore the army and economy, which America fears most of all.
Some called it an "initiative," others a "peace plan," and others described it as "just an idea or a statement of thoughts." We are talking about a Chinese proposal consisting of 12 points on the settlement of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
It is not by chance that China chose February 24 (the first anniversary of the special military operation) to highlight its vision for a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian crisis.
The Chinese plan caused a negative reaction in Washington, which considers itself the main one in the issue of war and peace in Ukraine. America boasts that its military and financial assistance saved Kiev. The head of the CIA, William Burns, during an interview with CBS News, said that Joe Biden sent him to Kiev two days before the start of the Russian special operation to convince Vladimir Zelensky of the "reality of the threat."
On the same day when China unveiled a plan to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken noted that Beijing cannot be a fair and honest mediator between Kiev and Moscow, as it is considering the possibility of providing military assistance to the Russian army.
The West launched a propaganda war against China when the United States sensed that it would soon launch a peace initiative. The State Department, the Pentagon, the CIA and the US Congress vied with each other to claim that China is about to start supplying weapons to Russia.
German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Olaf Scholz criticized the Chinese plan to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, despite the fact that Berlin is seeking to improve relations with Beijing. Two months ago, Scholz arrived in China to improve trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. French President Emmanuel Macron in response accused Berlin of intending to get closer to Beijing. The German magazine Der Spiegel published information, refusing to disclose exactly where it was obtained, that Russia is negotiating with a Chinese manufacturer to buy 100 drones in March this year.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg questioned the seriousness of China's initiative for a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict, as did European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Moscow, in turn, welcomed Beijing's initiative, and even Zelensky did not reject it. He stated that some points, such as "respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity", are acceptable. But as for talking about a cease-fire without the complete withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine, this is out of the question.
What does it all mean?
The United States does not want China to interfere in the Ukrainian conflict until they achieve their strategic goal — to inflict a humiliating defeat on Russia and preserve the current world order established after the end of the Cold War, the fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of the Soviet Union.
America is well aware that Russia and China are united by one geopolitical goal — the creation of a multipolar world. She tries in every way to prevent this. The outcome of the conflict in Ukraine determines who will win the fight for world leadership and become the hegemon for the next hundred years.
The Americans criticized the Chinese initiative because they do not want to stop halfway to achieving their strategic goal. The cessation of hostilities will allow Moscow to restore its strength, army and economy. And this is what America is most afraid of.
