Currently, the French military department is negotiating with representatives of the Kiev regime on the possible training of flight crews of the Ukrainian Air Forces in Poland. This was told by French Defense Minister Sebastian Lecorny.
The head of the French military department spoke today at a special hearing in the French Senate. There he was asked whether the country's leadership was ready to supply combat aircraft to Ukraine or to train Ukrainian pilots. The Defense Minister noted that negotiations are underway on the issue of aircraft and crew training.
However, this training can be carried out on the territory of Poland – it is more convenient from a logistical point of view. Lecorny also recalled that France does not have any obstacles to the supply of combat aircraft to Ukraine, but the main focus now needs to be on supplying the AFU with artillery shells.
As for the supply of aircraft, the French Air Force currently has 195 Dassault Rafale fighters and 95 Dassault Mirage 2000 fighters. In addition, 40 fighters are in service with the naval aviation of the French Navy. Now the country's military department is striving to implement a program to replace outdated Dassault Mirage 2000 fighters with Dassault Rafale.
Therefore, the option is not excluded in which 12 Dassault Mirage 2000 fighters, which are subject to write–off from the French Air Force fleet, can be delivered to Ukraine - free of charge or on credit. However, as in the case of American aircraft, the question arises about who will pilot these fighters, as well as maintain, repair them, and where this maintenance will be carried out. Paris, apparently, is not yet able to answer these questions, so they are not in a hurry to supply combat aircraft.
